The Real Truth About Making Money With A Mac
07/11/08 16:55
A lot of people are hurting right now. The economy is in a shambles. Job losses are high. Many folks hate their jobs but are afraid to jump out because of fear.
That’s the big elephant in the living room.
Fear.
I think it is a combination of things: the belief that having a job is the only way to be secure, insecurity about starting something and failing, concern over an uncertain future, layoffs, higher prices, and just no certainty of what’s coming next.
When I started working for myself full-time as a performer, I had come out of a career that I hated. More to the point I had a real problem working for someone for a mere pittance, when as a part-time performer, I would make a weeks’ salary with one show.
As a full-time business owner, I had to figure out ways to bring in money all the time. This was before I learned how to use my trusty Mac to generate income for me. In any case, there were times when I came up short, so I would get my Mac out and create a nice letter to send to my clients with a powerful offer that they could not resist.
I always got money this way.
One year I needed money to go on a specific trip, so I sent a letter offering my clients a very special set of shows for a special price. Almost all my clients took the package and cash came flying in.
What does this have to do with making money with a Macintosh computer?
Everything.
I had built up a set of clients who TRUSTED me.
These clients knew that when I made them an offer, they could bank on it.
If you have a select group of clients or customers that enjoy what you produce, then every time you create a product with your Mac, a good percentage of them will buy.
Making REAL money with a Mac is not about clicking a mouse or creating software.
Making REAL money with a Mac is about creating a product for a market that WANTS that product.
Period.
We’ll talk more about this as we continue this blog.
